Bench, France, c.1800.

A small Lit de repos ŕ crosse or a day-bed with outward curled scroll ends, in the Louis XV style. Walnut frame with nice carving has a light glazed finish. The loose cushion is down filled, and the silk upholstery is as we found it, in reasonably nice condition. Note the graceful transition from foot up to the expertly carved end rail…beautifully executed, obviously a very talented furniture maker!
